Reiki teaching through the International Centre for Reiki Training. Reiki is a natural, simple, safe and effective healing system that uses universal life energy – the energy which permeates our entire universe and all living things.
Reiki is a holistic healing system. It addresses the whole person:
• Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
• Helps in relieving pain.
• Aids in healing every known physical and mental illness.
• Works on the symptoms and their deeper cause.
• Relieves stress and increases relaxation.
• Balances and harmonizes the function of glands and organs.
• Clears energy blockages and suppressed emotions.
• Balances the chakras.
• Works well with traditional medicine and improves its results.
• Provides limitless benefits of spiritual growth and increases intuition.
The benefits of Reiki are not limited to healing! Reiki can be used on situations, to achieve goals and to overcome obstacles. Its uses are endless!
Recent scientific experiments have verified the existence of this life force energy. Scientists have proven that everything in the universe, at a sub-atomic level, is made up of energy. Universal life energy is called “Qi” or “Chi” in China, “Prana” in India, “Orgone energy”, “Bioenergetic plasma”, and “Ki” in Japan and this is where the Reiki name derives (Rei-ki means Universal Life Force Energy). Reiki circulates throughout the body and in an energy field surrounding the body. HEALTH is the harmonious flow of life energy, while imbalances in this flow (due to unhealthy habits or negative thoughts and emotions) lead to illness.
Reiki offers personal transformation and holistic health. It starts with giving you deep relaxation. As Reiki helps you heal, it removes stress, and relieves pain. It helps you sort through emotional issues and creates spiritual clarity. Reiki does not require a specific belief system or worldview, and it belongs to no religion. Reiki used in conjunction with stones or crystals can help balance the whole chakra system and give it a boost of energy.
The Reiki is given to the student from the Reiki master via an attunement. You will learn the history and lineage of Reiki, and how to give yourself and others treatment. This class is a combination of lecture, discussion and hands on practice.
LEVEL 2 – In this class you learn:
• Three Reiki symbols to expand and enhance the Reiki energy and to heal emotional/mental issues as well as addictions, and to achieve goals.
• How to send Reiki long distance to anyone, anywhere
• Do a meditation to meet and work with a Reiki Guide
• How to give yourself and others treatments, including how to release negative energy and issues
• Benefits of having a home based business being a Reiki Practitioner (part time or full time.)
Includes: Reiki Binder, International Centre for Reiki Training Book, and Certificate
Investment: $350 plus GST. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at time of registration. The balance is due at the start of the workshop.

March 9, 2018 - Talk on Yoga: Liberating our Experiencer with Dr. Ian Whicher
Location: Yoga Public – 280 Fort Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1E5
“Talk on Yoga” is a regular series of talks designed to ground students in their knowledge of yoga psychology and philosophy.
Following a brief meditation, Dr. Whicher will discuss the concept of separate selfhood or ego-identity as an activity versus an entity. Through the teachings of the Yoga Sutra, he will examine the significance of this distinction, setting the stage in practice for opening into the immediacy of our ever-present abiding nature as consciousness.
Ian Whicher is a professor in the Department of Religion at the University of Manitoba. He is interested in the practical applications of yoga philosophy and psychology and in making this wisdom tradition available and accessible to a wider audience.

DESCRIPTION:
MOONLIGHT JOURNEY is the perfect Friday night practice to let go of your busy week and get ready for your weekend. Take this class if you need a quick staycation from daily life, if you need to slow down a bit, if you have troubles sleeping, if you cope with too much stress at the moment or if you just want to treat yourself with a very special yoga class.
This 2 hour peaceful practice of relaxing, refreshing, healing, and soothing yoga is accessible for ALL LEVELS, no yoga pre-knowledge needed! We practice in normal room temperature (no extra heat).
During the class you restore, refresh, renew, and recharge your body and mind with a combination of Yin Yoga, slow Vinyasa Flow Yoga (,Vinyasa Slow‘), Restorative Yoga, and Thai Massage inspired hands-on assists.
The combined therapeutic power of all these different styles of yoga leaves you in a deep state of relaxation and in peace with yourself. The gentle practice allows you to let go of tension, stress, and negative thoughts. It also helps you to breathe deeper, to become calmer, and to experience a new positive site of your body.
The class is divided into different parts:
>> YIN YOGA: A handful of passive postures, held in stillness for a longer period of time to target the deep connective tissues and to prepare and open the body for the more active part of class.
>> VINYASA SLOW: Easy, gentle, smooth, and fluent movements, synchronized with your breath. That is the active part of class. It is a meditation in movement, practiced very slow with great awareness, to get circulation going and to focus on breathing and feeling instead of thinking.
>> RESTORATIVE YOGA: Another practice in stillness, accompanied by basic breathing techniques, focused on pure, deep relaxation. In these postures your entire body opens gently, supported by yoga props. Restorative postures minimize muscle contractions, they lower blood pressure and heart rate, and balance the nervous system.
>> FINAL RELAXATION: A long Shavasana, the last and most important (restorative) posture of each and every yoga practice. In Shavasana the body literally acts like a sponge – it absorbs all the energy and benefits from the practice before.
>> THAI MASSAGE assists: Each part of the class will be supported and accompanied by hands-on and Thai Massage assists to guide you safely and deeper into the postures. Especially during the passive parts of class I use passive stretches and apply gentle pressure to specific body areas to release blockages and to increase relaxation.

March 23, 2018 - Ashtanga As It Is Workshop with Jonathan Austman
Join Jonathan for an in depth look at the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. The Primary Series, known as Yoga Chikitsa in Sanskrit or Yoga Therapy, is meant to stabilize and open the body, cleanse the organs of perception and digestion, integrate the organs of action with their cores, and cleanse our sinews and tissues in a progressive and therapeutic manner. Working within the framework of the Primary Series we will see how bringing awareness to the breath and linking it with movement can have a beneficial and healing effect on body and mind. Over the weekend we will break things down and learn ways to modify the postures that are most challenging to students.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of student and teachers.
Jonathan Austman directs the Ashtanga Vinyasa Mysore Program at Yoga Public. He has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1978 and teaching since 1994. Inspired by his daily practice, he approaches teaching as an act of service; working patiently, compassionately, and respectfully with each student. Jonathan seeks to make the practice methods of Ashtanga yoga accessible to all and sees a disciplined and focused yoga practice as being integral to robust health and a well-balanced and happy life. Students find his well-informed and direct method of teaching both challenging and rewarding.
